CHARITY SPEEDRUN EVENT RAISED $30.080 IN SIX DAYS
One week of speedruns is over and this concludes the ESA Winter 2019 marathon in support of the Save the Children Foundation. ESA is happy to announce that 30.080$ was directly donated to the cause by our viewers, runners and attendees.
Fredrik Lidholt, Lead Organiser of the European Speedrunner Assembly said:
“It was amazing and our first sold out event we ever had in ESA history. It is a pleasure to meet and bond with our community members and viewers through these get-togethers.
I’m always astound to see all these amazing runners coming from all over the world to our event here in Sweden.”
When we sat down and asked our attendees what their personal highlight of the event was, they told us this:
“The main highlight for me has been the sincere interaction from the organisers down to runners throughout the entire event. ESA Winter feels more like a family gathering with friends than a formal event. I’ve loved every minute and look forward to the next! ” - Metako, Final Fantasy Runner
“My highlight would be my own run, as performing a speedrun in front of loads of friends and strangers at the venue, and thousands more online is a great thrill and very fulfilling knowing then I’m providing entertainment and raising money for a good cause.” - Joshimuz, GTA Speedrunner
“ESA Winter was a lot of fun! It’s been a blast with all the possible activities you can do such as the arcade with great rhythm games and the board games in the marathon room. The fact that this marathon provides stream stations is probably one of the best reason for streamers to go to an event like ESA. That way you can leave your setup and still stay in touch with your community.” -360Chrism, Super Mario and Pokémon Speedrunner
Our personal favourite moments from the event were the fresh off the shelf run of Resident Evil 2 Remake by Distortion2.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 any% run by The__VK.
The longest speedrun we have ever had in ESA history. The Final Fantasy X any% run by Metako.
And The 25$% The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess run by Samura1man where for 25$ the audience and the runner where at the mercy of our viewers.
As a charity focused organisation we rely on the helpful and generous viewers of our speedrun marathons, which pushes us to make our streams more enjoyable and fun than the last one to help children in need.
We are proud of our community that supports us with their donations at every single event we organize.
